Peak House

EMMA TULLOCH ARCHITECTS, CUSTOM BRICK PIRINEO

Peak House redefines traditional brickwork by challenging the conventional weight-bearing rectangular brick identity to create a unique family home. Positioned among prominent heritage architecture, the dwelling stands out with its abstract form and three custom peaked brick shapes that provide nuance, privacy, and practicality.

Key site features influenced the design, such as the preservation of a significant elm tree that shaped the basement and dining area layout. Privacy considerations drove the window screening concept, incorporating a custom brick design that extends across the windows to maintain the façade’s abstract look. These bricks, with their inverted-V inner face, allow for varied light and views while preserving the architectural integrity.

Peak House exemplifies an innovative approach to brick use, showcasing a collaborative effort between the clients and project team, resulting in a timeless and robust family home.
