SUSTAINABILITY
At LOHAS, we prioritise eco-conscious practices throughout every stage of our product's journey to minimise our environmental footprint. Our priority is to provide the market with sustainable natural building products that facilitate a life of health and sustainability.
WE CHOOSE NATURAL
Lohas brick, ceramic and acoustic products are made from natural clay and organic fibres. Our sourcing focuses on products that will enhance buildings to create spaces that are naturally healthy and reduce VOCs and humidity.
WE DEMAND QUALITY
LOHAS products offer the highest standard of quality both in diversity of range and performance. Our products are made to last and be efficient to build with.
To LOHAS, quality equals longevity, and this means buildings built with our products are built to last for many decades, therefore reducing waste and avoidable maintenance.
WE MINIMISE OUR IMPACT
Our ECO and LESS bricks are designed to reduce CO2 emissions through manufacturing. Through clever design, our bricks use less raw material and can be fired at lower temperatures in less time, reducing energy consumption.
Many of our brick products are also manufactured using biogas – a bi-product of landfill sites. By diverting and utilising gas from landfills, we prevent it from entering the atmosphere and reduce our CO2 emissions by up to 70% compared to traditional brick manufacturing using natural gas.
WE OFFSET TRANSPORT
As many of our products are manufactured overseas, we utilise highly efficient and low-emission sea freight to deliver materials directly to Sydney and Melbourne. Despite the distance, this sea transport is significantly more efficient than manufacturing in Australia and transporting bricks by road.
From our distribution hubs, we utilise local road freight for the short distance from the port to the site; however, due to the lightweight and compact design of many of our products, the emissions at again minimised.
Once delivered to site, the emissions used to transport the product are calculated and LOHAS offsets this CO2.
